More about the exhibitions:
In an Ideal World
In an Ideal world is an ongoing research project by Frederico Camara to create an atlas of man-made animal enclosures around the world. Devoid of life, the photographs turn our attention to the visual representation of natural habitats and, ultimately, to the act of looking. This exhibition presents over thirty projected images from the series, taken at zoos in the UK, China, Japan, Singapore and Norway. The UK leg of the project was commissioned by Pavilion in 2009.
I Can Still See You: Image and Memory – Life at home in WWII
An exhibition by contemporary artist Diane Howse of film stills and home movie footage from the Yorkshire Film Archive exploring British home life World War II.
Kismet and Karma
This pioneering exhibition provides a British context for creative engagement with arenas of conflict experienced by South Asian women artists from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The exhibition explores the notion of conflict in different but interconnecting sites: Home, Bodies, Cities, Borders/ Nation and Artist/ Artisan/ Activist.
